You had to see my 8:00 a.m. class students today -- none of them had eyes fully open, our usual lively discussion was replaced by deathly silence, and even good students did not finish their assignments. Can't blame my kids, though -- I was barely awake myself!
But, of course, someone has a rationale for this crazy ritual adopted around the world:
